FoldTester

This site can help answer the questions about where your site’s content will show up for different percentages of the world’s internet browsers.

Based on data gathered from millions of internet users, the graphics on this site will help you lay out content accordingly.

The percentages on the screen indicate the percentage of the world’s desktop Internet users that are you will cover at that viewport size (not screen resolution), taking into account window size, toolbars, and so forth.

SuprQ

The SUPR-Q is a 13 question standardized questionnaire which generates a normalized score. The scoring system is based on the relative ranking from a database of over 100 websites and thousands of users.

The SUPR score is made up of a global score which is a percentile ranking based on four factors: Usability, Trust & Credibility, Appearance, Loyalty

In addition you get percentile ranks for each factor so you can see the strengths and weakness by factor. The SUPR-Q was developed through a process of psychometric validation. Over 75 candidate questions were tested on thousands of users across hundreds of websites to arrive at the 13 which provide the most reliable, sensitive and valid picture of the attitudes which shape the success of a website.

UsabiliTEST

usabiliTEST is a technology company, conceived by a Certified Usability Analyst (CUA), who saw a need to empower web developers and designers alike. Using usabiliTEST’s tools to collect relevant user data, can help you make critical decisions and lay a solid foundation for your web site’s information architecture and design.

Card sorting can help you build the structure for your web site, decide what to put on the home page, and label the home page categories. It also helps to ensure that you organize information on your site in a way that is logical to your users. User-centric design increases customer satisfaction, which often leads to repeat business.

Task Prioritization Matrix is a useful technique you can use with your current or potential customers or with your team members to achieve consensus about an issue. The Matrix helps you rank tasks by a frequency and importance criteria. Then you can more clearly see which issues are the most important to work on solving first.

Userlytics

Userlytics schedules, recruits and executes in-home panels for anything from pre-market banner and creative testing to application and website usability-testing. Userlytics is truly unique as it records participants using their own webcams (facial expressions and spoken thoughts), and their actions on their desktop (what they do), as they work through the creative being tested.

Say good-bye to testing and optimizing after the creative has launched. Now you can optimize before launch and still hit your tight deadlines.

Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability, 2nd Edition

Five years and more than 100,000 copies after it was first published, it’s hard to imagine anyone working in Web design who hasn’t read Steve Krug’s “instant classic” on Web usability, but people are still discovering it every day.  In this second edition, Steve adds three new chapters in the same style as the original: wry and entertaining, yet loaded with insights and practical advice for novice and veteran alike.  Don’t be surprised if it completely changes the way you think about Web design. With these three new chapters:

  • Usability as common courtesy — Why people really leave Web sites
  • Web Accessibility, CSS, and you — Making sites usable and accessible
  • Help! My boss wants me to ______. — Surviving executive design whims

We set up whatusersdo so anyone, in any size or type of organisation, can observe real people using their website. Quickly, easily and cost-effectively. Whatusersdo is an online User Experience research service. You can set a task for our users and we record their screens and spoken thoughts as they complete that task. You can then watch online videos of their screens and voices.

Our clients use whatusersdo to test usability, benchmark competing websites, better understand user behaviour and get feedback on their online propositions. In fact, so long as it’s online, you can get qualitative user insights into almost anything. What used to take days or weeks and thousands of pounds now takes a fraction of the time and cost.
