Our client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help develop their industry leading telephony and media platform. Duties include design and implementation of LAMP based application services and user interface components in a massively scalable environment. Qualified candidates must have the follow skills and experience:

- Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML, SQL, and Javascript
- Proven track record of building complex, enterprise scalable applications using the above technologies.
- Strong Object Oriented background
- Proven design skills
- Development in an AGILE environment
- Strong written and verbal skills and a genuine desire to document your work.

Strong candidates would also have knowledge of Telephony, Streaming Video, and Social Networking

Full Description:
Develop and maintain custom WEB applications for client utilizing Linux, Apache, PHP, AJAX, MySQL, Stored Procedures, etc. (Ranked 54 in the Inc. 500’s fastest growing companies.) This is not a public website.

The web application controls telephone applications and devices which consist of broadcasts and teleforums. This is a real time (non-public) application that runs over the Internet. Broadcasts are automated messages sent to a phone list. Teleforums are live over the phone town halls which many congressmen use to contact their constituents allowing the constituents direct access to their representatives. This part of the application is heavy AJAX. Sports teams and universities are using this application. This application is highly complex that it is difficult to market yet once people use it they are sold;

Use REST API for our proprietary application. Allow customers to manage phone lists, sound files, download reports, and launch telephone broadcasts via the web interface.

Maintain and develop parts of the complex Teleforum application which consists of probably the most complex PHP/Javascript/AJAX script’s to be found anywhere that is needed to support this highly distributed application. This application allows the user to dial over one million phone numbers to initiate a real time town hall meeting. There can be thousands of live phone participants at any one time. There will be a host who is presenting a speech and does question and answers live. There usually are screeners (typically a congressman’s staff member) that will prescreen participants questions (good way to avoid hostile or irrelevant participants). There is a chat capability so all the hosts, screeners, and master users can communicate via text on the web interface while the host talks with participants. There is a poll function which allows the host to set up a poll and have participants hit star and number keys to respond. There are multiple panes: Question and Answer Queue (which has the participants name and question, and allows ranking), Web user Question and Answer Queue, Hosts Queue (there can be more than one host and one screener and shows their names and phone numbers), Participant Queue (which shows the participants name and phone number and if they have been screened by a screener the question that they are asking. There are moved into the Question and Answer Queue when the screener is finished.)

There is a public WEB based video version of the Teleforum (does polling and allows web users to ask questions during the live event), which will currently support over 1000 web users to view a politicians live telephone based town hall event in near real time. It has integrated video functionality into the Teleforum product. In the future there are plans to allow an unlimited number of web users watch a live event and interact with the presenter.

Memcached solutions for a wide range of internal applications.

Position requires candidate to perform many miscellaneous maintenance tasks and projects for this specialized application. There are constant modifications and enhancements.
