Community Rules, Posting Guidelines and Tips
We want to make sure that the Visitor Centric Community continually provides the best online source to find and share quality conversion optimization resources. One of the objectives of Visitor Centric is to create a better networked conversion optimization industry, by providing more exposure to great writers, researchers and practitioners.
Help us to ensure that the community continually grows to be a truly valuable conversion optimization resource for everyone. We want the forums to remain an open place to find and post great conversion optimization and usability materials. Furthermore, we encourage all members to post relevant information that they feel would be useful to the community.
At the same time, we don’t want the community to become a ground for sales pitches and link building efforts. In an effort to maintain the quality and integrity of the community discussions, please ensure that your posts follow the guidelines and tips listed below. Remember, this is your community. Help keep it one of the best conversion optimization resources on the Web.
Questions, Comments and Concerns
Please contact the admin or a moderator if you have questions about the community posting guidelines. Thanks for joining the Visitor Centric Community. We hope you find it to be a valuable resource. Remember: This is your community. Help keep it one of the best conversion optimization resources on the Web.
Use Disclaimers When Appropriate
Be sure to disclose your relationship, interest or stake (personal, financial or otherwise) in the information that you post, so that members understand why the information you’re posting valuable. Such transparency will increase the credibility of your post.
**Use a Signature**
A simple way to quickly provide disclosure is to complete your member signature with your company name so that it is displayed on all of your posts.
Hint: It’s located in the “User Control Panel” in the nav bar, under the “profile” sub-menu. Plus, if you provide a URL in your signature, you’ll have a link to your company website on every post you make in the community (good for link building).
Give Credit to Authors and Sources
If you post content which someone else has written, please be sure to credit them with their name or at least a link to the original content. Do not post complete works or content verbatim in the community (simply link to the original content). If it is necessary to quote a work, please use the quote tags in the post editor and credit your source. It’s also more useful to everyone if you add your own comments, thoughts and opinions as to why you find particular content valuable to the community.
Sales Pitches, Promotions and Discounts
Do not post sales pitches, they offer little to no value to the community. If you have a relevant discount or promotion that you would like to provide to community members, please contact the admin or a moderator first. There is also a dedicated “classifieds” forum to post conversion optimization related services.
Help Keep the Community Organized and Clean…
Afterall, this is a community dedicated to website usability. Post relevant information in the appropriate areas. Please contact the admin or a moderator if you truly feel that there is no appropriate area for your topic, or if you believe that there is a need to create a new forum or category.
Post More Than Your Stuff
Great communities thrive when members use a “service above self” attitude. If you produce relevant and quality information that is beneficial to members, please post it. At the same time, we also encourage members to post third party information that they believe is valuable to the community. Posting information beyond your own works increases your credibility with the community, and provides a much tighter network of organized information.
